On 23rd October ABI research announced that they anticipate Augmented Reality to have dramatic growth via smartphones. They expect the current $6m market to grow to $350m market by 2014. But here at FRM we think it will not just be a $350m market. It will be a few billion dollar market. Why we think so is because what we see right now is mostly advertising – mere promotion and marketing. Layar and Wikitude are just one of the few rare ones who are trying new things. As interest build, there will be a lot more startups coming up with newer AR technologies and so will opportunities and the dollar sign.
